I came off of my television fast over the weekend to watch a couple of movies. Also so I could ease myself into watching President Obama address the Congress and nation tonight.
Now that I have completed that particular interest the television is about to be turned off for a couple of weeks. I’m bored with the damn medium!
Unlike many contemporary viewers, I don’t watch reality shows. My life has a sufficient amount of drama in it. I don’t find other people’s drama to be good enough to distract me from my own.
When I tell people I’m fasting from television it usually freaks them out. It is difficult to imagine having a set in your surroundings and not tuning in to watch. At one time I am sure I was one among that number. Lately I have found myself questioning why I even pay for the privilege of channel surfing?
If cable providers would offer a package that allowed subscribers to select the channels that we actually would watch-I’d be on it immediately! There are just some channel in my current package that lack any appeal to me period.
Not watching television provides me with hours to read, listen to music or do something that normally would not work on. Which works well for moi!

I am with you on the television thing. I take news fasts, as well. And yes, it frees up tons of times for other, more creative things.
