Thoughts Over Maxwell House

40 years ago, I was introduced to this family of brothers who made music.

They were from a neighboring state and had a really hip R & B flavor to their music.

I liked them from the moment we connected.  Four of them were definitely teenie bopper heart throbs.

The little brother was just a kid.  At least this is how I saw him since I was 15 at that time.

He definitely had talent.  He could sing his little face off!  And he could dance like he was infused with the DNA of every major mover within the Soul Nation.

Little did I know that our initial introduction was just the beginning of his presence in my life.

Little did I know that his music would be a part of the background score that surrounded my life.

In spite of all that has happened on our long journey, I have never stopped listening to the gift of music that was given by The Jackson’s or by Michael.  I have too much of my personal memories attached to him.  Moments that I cannot forget because I don’t want to.  They are filled with days of good times, love, laughter and just living a life.

A car was rolling down the block earlier today. Mike’s voice booming loud and clear from the sound system.

It was good to hear him singing freely once again.  We had been deprived that gift for too long.

We had to loose him to gain that particular freedom.

What a helluva of a trade off that is!
